Vacation Visuals [03.16.15]

Woke up at 5:30 AM and couldn’t go back to sleep. Dragged A up to go to the beach with me to watch the sunrise. I couldn’t contain my excitement – the moment my toes sunk into the sand and the waves came crashing in, baby waves of course, I was happy. Happy to hot have an itinerary or schedule. Happy to wake up so early and even though the sunset rose behind the house and we missed it, that meant we would be getting an A+ sunset tonight.

After a typical breakfast of bacon, eggs + english muffins, A and I took turns swimming in the lap pool at the front of the house and afterwards, it was occasional dips into the hot tub + pools and finishing Bad Feminist by Roxane Gay, which I highly recommend to not men . I literally feel like I’m living a dream right now. A dream that is eerily similar to the Keeping Up With The Kardashians special where they  vacation at the most breathtaking house in Thailand. Maybe they lied because this house beats what I saw on tv. No longer suffering from FOMO because I am living it right now.

Lunch was an amazing poke bowl (slightly convinced this is not tuna, and it’s actually magikarp) at Eskimo Candy. It was so great that I almost caved and bought a pound of poke so I can eat it straight with a fork. I behaved instead, and we made a trip to Costco (lol America) to stock up for the week. But if I had it my way, I could live off of raw tuna and seaweed three meals a day for the rest of the week. I’m an island baby in my heart.

Tonight ended with homemade dinner on the grill, some more light reading and a walk on the beach. A and I were able to watch the sunset. We bumped into some local Hawaiian men who were at least 2-3 decades older than us but in much better shape, gracefully playing a game of frisbee. We passed another woman who looked like she is a recent retiree Hawaiian transplant. She was beautiful, wearing a bright pink lipstick, huge oval sunglasses and nursed a glass of white wine watching the spectacle. I want to be that fashionable yet carefree when I hit that age.

Can you believe me when I say the above pictures are no filter + no VSCO cam? Cross my heart + follow my Instagram for more up-to-date shots. Can’t guarantee they will all be filter-free though!

Tomorrow we’re going whale-watching and having more traditional Hawaiian food. I thought this easy pace of life was going to be hard, but I’m getting used to laying around and just hanging out with my thoughts. Or with some new Kendrick Lamar – that is gold.
